Destry Maycock

 

Destry Maycock, graduated from Southern Utah University in 1994 with an undergraduate degree in psychology.  Shortly thereafter in August of 1994 Destry was hired by the Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) as a Foster Care Facilitator. He was charged with the duty of recruiting, training, licensing and providing ongoing support to the foster parents of the Color Country area (Beaver, Kane, Garfield and Piute counties).

Destry then transferred to Kane County where he coordinated the prevention focused, K-3 program. There he coordinated school based early intervention programs for youth in grades Kindergarten through third grade. He worked with other community organizations to assist families in meeting their children’s basicneeds.  Organized and directed parenting support groups and successfully developed after school programs “Big Buddy”, summer day camps, and family activity nights for K-3 children and their families.

In 1997 he was selected to coordinate Project Success in Beaver County under the Adoptions and Promoting Safe and Stable Families Grant. As the coordinator for Project Success Destry created and developed a school-based program to reduce service gaps and meet the individual needs of “at-risk” children and their families. While implementing Project Success Destry was accepted into the University of Utah’s Rural Master of Social Work program. Internships at Southwest Behavioral Health Center and Beaver County School District were completed as part of his MSW requirements. He graduated and received is MSW in 2001 and successfully completed the requirements to obtain licensure as an LCSW in 2005.

Destry was promoted to DCFS Supervisor for the Color Country Unit in 1999. In 2006, Destry was selected as the DCFS Child Welfare Administrator where he oversaw the provision of child welfare services in Iron, Beaver, Kane and Garfield counties. As such, he was responsible to assess the quality of services the agency provides and implement strategies aimed at improving the services provided by DCFS and the larger system of care. Coordinate and collaborate with other community agencies to develop programs and initiate changes in practice that improves services to children and families.

In October 2012 Destry was selected to become one of two state Program Administrators for In-Home Services. Destry’s major responsibility at this time is the development and implementation of HomeWorks throughout the state. His major focus is community resources under this project.
