Conference Information

Dates

The Conference will be held Thursday, October 12 and Friday, October 13.

Registration

Registration is closed. If you would like to be notified of future AG CLE Conferences, please send an email to krhodes@agutah.gov indicating as much.

Location

The conference is being held at the S.J. Quinney College of Law, University of Utah, 383 S University Street in Salt Lake. The entire conference will be held on the 6th floor of the law school. To view a layout of the 6th floor, please click here. Please take the elevators up. We will be using the Moot Courtroom, the Flynn Workshop Room, and Rooms 6623, 6619, and 6613, which combine to make the Multipurpose Room. Plenary sessions will be held in the Moot Court Room. It is theater-style seating. There are no tables. No food will be allowed in this room; however, you are welcome to bring in closed drinks.

Parking

Please click here for a map of the parking. You may park in the red area to the south of the law school, which is the Stadium Lot Parking. There may be signs saying that it is restricted parking, but we have been given permission to park there during our conference. DO NOT park in the lot to the east of the law school, which is in brown on the map. You WILL be towed or ticketed.

The TRAX Stadium Station is right next to the law school if you would like to take public transportation.

CLE Credit

You MUST sign in each day in order to get credit. If you do not sign in, we are not able to give you credit. Signing in can be done at any time during the day at the registration table. You must also complete the evaluation that will be sent out the week after the conference in order to receive credit.

Not all of the materials are currently posted, but as they keep coming in, I will be updating the website. You may wish to print out the materials in advance.

Meals

We will NOT be providing breakfast this year. However, we will be offering a beverage service each morning. There will be snacks during both the morning and afternoon breaks, and lunch is provided as well. If you have a dietary restriction that you alerted us about, please find me at the registration desk during lunch, and I will make sure that you get your meal. Lunch may be eaten in several locations -- the Multipurpose rooms, the Flynn room, the mezzanine on the 2nd floor and the outdoor terrace, weather permitting. Lunch MAY NOT be taken into the Moot Courtroom.

Q&A Presentations

Please make sure to come up with questions for the following presentations:

Preserving the Record and Issues for Appeal Panel Discussion.  Both trial and appellate lawyers are represented on the panel.  If you have any questions about preservation that you would like the panel to discuss, please send them to me or Erin Middleton (emiddleton@agutah.gov) in advance of the CLE so that the panel can be sure to address them.  Questions during the presentation will also be welcome.

Hearsay and Social Media Authentication presented by Professor Richard Mangrum.  Professor Mangrum has stated that the beginning of his presentation will be an open Q &A on evidence in general.  Please bring any evidence questions that you have so that we can ensure a relevant and engaging presentation.

Recycling

The University of Utah requires that we recycle. The recycling bins will be marked clearly. Please use the recycling bins provided, or else our staff will literally have to go through garbage bins to fish out your empty cans of soda, etc.

Please clean up after yourself as well, as we are charged a custodial fee for any clean up.

Questions

If you have other questions or comments, please send an email to krhodes@agutah.gov.
